Marcia Haller
Marcia Haller is the Director of Nursing at Open Arms Senior Living. After years of helping others as a first responder and firefighter with the Gnesen Volunteer Fire Department, Marcia decided to answer her calling and become a nurse, as it was almost second nature for her to gladly help others and do so with a smile. One thing many people do not know about Marcia is in 2019 she was struck with a debilitating illness that temporarily left her needing all the help she could get, including relearning of simple things like balance, walking and speaking. After recovering she became even more passionate about helping others. Marcia has lived in Gnesen Township her entire life and has been married to her husband for over 26 years. Together they have a son, who joins mom and dad as a volunteer for GVFD. When not working Marcia enjoys nature and animals, feeding deer , fox and hummingbirds.
Chuck
I have been a nurse for over 35 years. I earned my LPN degree and NREMT through the United States Army at the Academy Of Health Sciences in San Antonio Texas, a well-renowned medical school. During my 20 years active duty in the military, I worked in ICU and emergency rooms at various army hospitals. After retiring from active duty military I worked as a nurse at the Twin Ports VA Outpatient Clinic in Superior for 14 years, serving Veterans of all ages.
I built many great relationships with patients and helped them to feel comfortable and cared for during their time in
the healthcare system. I have also worked in several skilled nursing centers and assisted care facilities. Assisted care nursing became my passion over the years. I love being a nurse because I can see the impact I'm able to make on people's lives every day. Whether it's something small like making sure they have the right medication or helping residents with life changing decisions and procedures. I love that every day presents a unique challenge and gives me a new opportunity to help people every day.
Brooklynn, Resident Services Coordinator
Brooklynn Meiners is the Resident Services Coordinator in admissions at Open Arms Senior Living. Before this role, she had been working in healthcare as a personal care assistant for 7 years. Her passion for senior care started with her first job at an Assisted Living and Memory care in Superior, WI. Brooklynn was studying nursing until she chose a different path within her career and a new opportunity came to light. Her compassion for her residents and ensuring quality of care is what led her to starting her position as a PCA at Open Arms in November of 2022.
When not at work, Brooklynn enjoys getting outside, boating, fishing, hunting, hiking, and traveling. She also dedicates time spent with family and friends.
Hannah, RN
Hello! I'm Hannah, an RN at Open Arms Senior Living! First, I'd like to share that I'm so proud to be a product of a long-standing family tradition of nursing, dating back to the 1940s. Initially, I started my medical journey serving as a Phlebotomist in the Duluth area for 6 years. It was evident to me that I could provide more to the community and decided to continue my education. I received my AA from FDLTCC and my AS in Nursing at LSC in 2021.
I found my focus as an RN working in the Assisted Living and End of Life environment. My calm, dedicated, and empathetic personality goes hand in hand when forming deep connections with patients, families, and the caregiving team during unique times. I'm most passionate about working with individuals at vulnerable stages of life; where my drive only grows to advocate and give solace to community members in their final journeys, while simultaneously promoting dignity, autonomy, and comfort. What an honor.
When I'm not serving as an RN, I'm serving as a proud mother of 3. I currently reside in Normanna Township, but I grew up in Gnesen township riding horses and exploring the outdoors. In my spare time you might find me foraging for mushrooms, crocheting, studying the Finnish language, or enjoying a small campfire.
